Fur-Kids vs. Human Kids: More Alike Than You May Think

Who says fur-kids aren't just like human-kids? I disagree, do you? First off, take a look at the photo below... what do you see? A kid saying "mom. mom. mom." Ever notice those kids in the store doing the exact same thing when trying to get mom's attention?

Then we have the 'persistence' of both fur and human kids. Take my cats who are constantly trying to lay across my arms as I work. Sure, I tell them to go lay down, go play somewhere, etc. and yes, they go, for a few moments. But sure enough, they ease their way back over to my desk and try, yet again, to get what they want. Try as I might to push them to move on, they return time and time again until they finally wear me down. Anyone have any human children that do that?! Nah, I'm sure it's just my fur-kids.

The dogs are not much better, following you all around the house, getting underfoot and almost wearing the pot of water you are carrying to the stove. But of course they dodge out just in time so that it's just you who's covered in water and holding back the screams (ok, so maybe you don't hold them back so much as let them rip from the top of your lungs).

They feign tiredness when you want them to do their chores, er.. umm training sessions, but boy do they somehow find boat loads of that same lost energy when they see you pull their leashes from the hooks, or pick up the chuck it ball from the picnic table. Know any human children that may resonate with, or am I mistaken? (think I'm on to something here).

Yes, my kids (all 10 of them) are covered in fur, speak a foreign language (that only a mother could translate), and use a litter box or spot in the yard instead of a toilet (or their pull-ups), BUT if you look past that I think you will see something much more magical... I think you will see how all living things are interconnected and similar even though they may appear to be so different from us. The heart, soul, and spirit of all that lives and breathes is worthy of our respect, our kindness, and yes, even our aggrevation from time to time.

So when you come to my house just remember - Be kind to my animals, after all, I'm kind to yours!
